IT IS THE TIME OF THE WHIRLWIND.
IF YOU TURN TO SILENT, EMPTY, FALSE GODS, THAT HAVE NO LIFE, YOU WILL HEAR NO ANSWERS. THERE IS NO COMMUNICATION—YOUR DESPAIR ONLY DEEPENS. THE PIT FEELS DEEPER.
I feel the testimony of Christ, of the Truth: The time has passed when I can turn to lesser gods, to stop-gap measures for my strength—the time has passed that those things would help or give adequate relief—times have changed. We don’t live in times any longer where any other god is adequate.
I visualize a wind blowing, reaching gale force, moving swiftly toward hurricane force.
And I picture people who have held on to lesser gods, lesser sources of comfort, security, serenity, peace, okay-ness, things like their money, possessions, performances, etc. As the wind grows in force these people are ripped loose from their handholds—they are reaped by the whirlwind.
They are tumbled and buffeted continually—but always within their reach is the true and living God—the only safety; the only stronghold the whirlwind cannot effect or penetrate.
All that keeps them from grasping onto His hand is their own pride.
Psalms 28:7 – The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth and with my song will I praise him.
Psalm 29:11 – The Lord will give strength.
He can sleep when the wind blows—I am reminded of that story—because the farm hand has done all the “battening down” himself. I can rest when the wind blows—rest in the Lord. (Moroni 7:3.)
